Dear old Devoteel friends,
Wanted to open a discussion with you all, as I know you and trust we have passed the stage of preaching to acquire status and easy simple answers to complex issues
Don't know if this is the best place for this forum but if your up for it? would like to open a conversation on " dementia and Krsha consciousness"
I subscribe to the philosophy that the quality of consciousness at death plays a major ( if not only) factor on the body one will be born into in the next life. Now bearing witnessed to mother descent into a worse than childhood state with dementia and having memories of the very fine satvata qualities she processed as a younger woman; which I sure would have carried her to progressive new body in her next life, it has made me contemplate my owe ageing and how would I deal with my,or a loved one dementia or other illness which reduces the mind in a way which seems to seriously hinder the ability to have krsna concionious/satvic focus at the time of death.
Time has show us that devotees are not imune from the debilitating illness of the the human body.
Ill like to hear other devotees views on this subject and just to be controversial... is there ever a place for euthanasia within the context of an illness which will reduce the mind to jelly with seriously reduced capacities to process and focus human consciousness, wouldn't it be better to pass surrounded by loved one and kirtain than risk decent into primitive brain.
Love to hear your views
